Welcome to Coffee & Chocolate Milk’s new home!

Hello hello!!
I am so excited to dedicate our first blog post for our brand new website! We’ve been working on this baby for a while now, and are very happy with the new look. M and I have been talking about building a new website for a long time, but we’ve just couldn’t really settled with a good solid concept.

One day, M set me down in my favorite coffee shop and asked me what’s my vision for the website. I said, “I don’t want it to be just a photography website. Coffee and Chocolate Milk is a project that we created to document our lives. Therefore, the website needs to be telling stories. And since it’s an collaborated project, I want it to show both my photography and your illustrations. Also, I want the the website to be interactive. Most of the sets I created was with handmade props or miniature items I collected over time, so I want people be able to come in and click on things as if they are actually on set.”

“Is that it?” said M.

“Yes,that’s it.” I replied.

M slowly took a sip of his hot coco and said, “Well. Of course you are making it as complicated as you can. But it’s doable. Are you sure you want to do this?”

“Yes!” I said with a smile.

Just like that, the new website was under production. And I have to say, the most fun yet painful part was the making of the stop motion animation for the homepage.

I spent one day making all the little props we need with clay including tiny food, hands, flowers, and a cat teaser wand. After all the props and sets were ready, we spent three nights shooting. It could have been only two night, but M accidently kicked the light towards the end of the living room shoot, so we had to reshoot everything from the beginning. Fun, right?

The day after the shoot, I was on a plane flying overseas for a job and left the editing part to my animation wizard – M. I can’t say it was a fun job for M, but I sure love how it turned out, don’t you? Go on and click around our homepage and see what you find!
